Sustainable Agropractice
Curbing Hunger & Improving Health
Introduction
The world's population is projected to reach 10 billion by 2050, and according to the United Nations, more than 820 million people are undernourished. The food system is plagued by environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable farming practices such as monoculture, overuse of fertilizers and pesticides, and large-scale irrigation. Sustainable agriculture practices are the solution. Sustainable agriculture refers to the use of practices and techniques that enhance the productivity of the land, protect the environment, and improve the economic and social well-being of farmers and their communities.
Objectives
Our objectives are to empower 50 farmers, 50 Pregnant women, and 50 students and promote sustainable agriculture, and improve food security And Healthy Living.
Equip farmers with knowledge and skills to adopt sustainable agricultural practices that increase crop yield, reduce environmental degradation, and enhance soil fertility.
Orient pregnant women to use locally made food that is nutritious enough, such as fruits and vegetables, encourages them to fully participate in agricultural practices.
Provide students with practical skills and knowledge in sustainable agriculture to promote their interest and participation in the sector, with a focus on sustainable practices.
Budget
The proposed budget for this program is $1,000 which will cover the costs of Project Implementation, materials, travel expenses, and stipends for the trainers.
Methodology
The proposed training and empowerment program will involve a combination of classroom lectures and practical training sessions. The training will cover topics such as sustainable agricultural practices, post-harvest handling, value addition, and access to markets. The training will also include practical sessions on soil testing, composting, and pest management. The program will be implemented by a team of experts in sustainable agriculture and extension services.
Expected Outcomes
Farmers will adopt sustainable agricultural practices, resulting in increased crop yields, improved soil fertility, and reduced environmental degradation.
Pregnant Women and Children Under Five Will Be Free from Malnutrition. Will Also Prioritize Taking Nutritious Food That Is Locally Made. Reduce Outbreak of Hunger Among the mothers and their children.
Students will acquire practical skills and knowledge in sustainable agriculture, promoting their interest and participation in the sector.
Conclusion
Sustainable agriculture practices can help curb hunger and improve health while preserving the environment. By adopting 1. Crop Rotation, a practice where crops are rotated in a specific order or sequence to maintain the fertility of the soil. 2. Conservation Tillage, a practice where most of the previous crop's residue is left on the field to minimize soil disruption and erosion. 3. Organic Farming, a practice where crops are grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and only natural methods are used for pest and disease control. With sustainable agriculture practices, farmers can increase their crop productivity.
