Farmer's Cooperative
Objective:
Creating an Online Marketplace to Address Food Insecurity in Nigeria(FARM2TABLE)
Introduction:
Nigeria is currently facing severe hunger, poverty, and food wastage. According to reports by the Global Hunger Index, 29.2% of Nigerians suffer from severe hunger, ranking the country 98th out of 107 countries suffering from severe hunger. This proposal aims to address this problem by creating an online marketplace that connects farmers to markets and other stakeholders such as banks, input suppliers, insurance companies, and transporters. Our goal is to reduce food waste, improve the supply chain, and connect consumers with high-quality farm products, thereby reducing food insecurity and poverty in Nigeria.
Project Description:
The project will create an online platform that facilitates connections between farmers, consumers, and other stakeholders in the food supply chain. The platform will allow farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers, reducing food waste and eliminating the exploitation of middlemen. Additionally, we will provide resources and training to farmers to increase their productivity and improve the quality of their produce. We will establish a system for food distribution that reduces waste and ensures that nutritious food is available to those in need.
Goal:
To reduce food insecurity and poverty in Nigeria by creating an online marketplace that connects farmers to markets and other stakeholders in the food supply chain.
Objectives:
1. To provide farmers with access to a wider market and direct sales to consumers.
2. To improve food security and nutrition for communities across Nigeria.
3. To increase productivity and sustainability of small-scale farming practices.
4. To increase access to credit and insurance facilities for farmers.
5. To reduce food waste, hoarding, and exploitation of middlemen.
Platform Features/Business Offering:
Our platform will have the following features and business offerings:
User profiles: Farmers and other stakeholders will create a profile on the platform.
Market access: The platform will provide farmers with access to markets and buyers, allowing them to sell their produce directly.

Financial support: The platform will connect farmers to banks and insurance companies that can provide them with financial support and insurance.
Transporters: Companies that transport goods from farms to markets and other locations.
Food distributors: organizations that distribute food to those in need.
